Guidance Notes for Applicants

The Application Form

  • It is important that all aspects of the application are filled out fully. 
  • Applications will not be considered or maybe rejected if not completed in full.
  • The purpose of this form is to ensure we have sufficient information to make a preliminary assessment of your suitability for the post/s applied for.
  • You are welcome to include a copy of your CV, but please make sure you complete the application form too.


The Application Process

  • Once your application has been received you will be contacted within 24 hours to arrange an interview.
  • 2 references will be taken up and occupational health clearance.

Recruitment Decision

  • The selection decision is made by assessing the evidence from your application form, interview, references and any tests or exercises used against the selection criteria.
  • When you come for interview you will be required to bring the following documents :
  • Professional Certificates of Qualifications (Including updated Mandatory Courses)
  • Copy of registration with An Bord Altranais and Statement of Entry/Registration Details
  • Proof of Immunisation Status for Hepatitis B, TB, Rubella.
  • Work Permit/Visa details if applicable
  • Proof of Professional Indemnity Insurance (e.g. Copy of INO or SIPTU Membership)
  • 2 Signed Passport Sized Photographs in order to complete an ID Badge
  • Passport/and or Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Address x 2 (. e.g. Driving Licence/Bill/Bank statement)
  • Garda Clearance if you have one or clearance from another country
  • All candidates will be notified of the recruitment decision.
  • Successful candidates will be issued with a contract and terms and conditions of employment.

References

  • It is the policy of Sigmar Health that references you supply must include your present or most recent employer.
  • If you have not worked for some time you please provide the contact details of someone who can comment on you suitablility for the job for which you are applying.
  • A referee must not be related or a friend.
  • Application forms will be returned if suitable references are not produced.


Garda Clearance

It is a condition of proceeding with your application that you apply for garda clearance or produce a letter already obtained.  Under section 4 of the Data Protection Acts of 1988 and 2003 everyone is entitled to ask for a search of any personal data on the criminal record database referring to themselves.

It is very difficult for anyone outside of the Health Service Executive to apply for clearance, which is why you must apply for it yourself. When writing to obtain clearance, you must not state ‘Garda Clearance.’ Instead send a letter ‘applying for information on yourself  on the criminal records database for your own records under section 4 of the Data Proctection Acts of 1988 and 2003,  giving your name, address, any previous addresses, date of birth, and enclose a copy of your birth certificate, driver’s licence or passport for identification purposes.  There is a €6.35 fee cheque, postal order and bank draft should be made payable to "The Accountant Department of Justice" Cash should not be forwarded with your letter.
