FAQs - Frequntly Asked Questions

Q) Where can I work?
A) Once you’re registered with Sigmar Health, you can choose to work wherever there are requirements within your areas of clinical competency, following a local induction.

Q) How do I get paid?
A) Weekly or by express payment. Your money goes directly into you bank account.

Q) How much will I get paid?
A) You will be paid INO (Irish Nurses Organisation) rates plus an additional 8% holiday pay which you can request when taking annual leave.

Q) Will I get holiday pay?
A) Yes holiday pay is calculated at 8% of your gross salary and you are entitled to take 4 weeks each year.

Q) How will I be informed of work?
A) You let us know when you want to work and we contact you by your preferred method – by telephone, mobile, fax or email, to let you know what’s available.

Q) What about training?
A) We provide a formal induction to Sigmar Health. After that we provide mandatory training and support with professional development.

Q) How far in advance can I ask for work?
A) As far in advance as you choose.

Q) What happens if my bookings gets cancelled?
A) If your booking is cancelled within 2 hours of your start time you will be paid 4 hours, it is important that you keep us up todate with your contact details as no responsibility can be accepted for if the booking was cancelled and we are unable to contact you.

Q) What happens if I don’t want to work on a particular ward or hospital?
A) Just let us know if you have any preferences – you’re always able to say when and where you want to work.

Q) How many hours a week will I need to work?
A) As many or as few as you want. There are no minimum hours. Our aim is to provide you with as many opportunities to work as you require while maintaining a work life balance.

Q) What is the uniform policy?
A) You can wear either navy or black trousers, a white tunic and black or navy shoes.  Minimal jewellery to worn.  A Sigmar Health id badge must be worn at all times.

Q) What happens if I have an accident at work?
A) Inform the person in charge immediately, comply with the hospital policy if the accident relates to blood or sharps, advise Sigmar Health as soon as possible.
