Senior Clinical Nurse Our client, a family run Nursing home based in the Dublin area for 42 residents requiring minimal support and assistance of nursing care are seeking to recruit a New Director of Nursing to provide clinical and professional leadership in the nursing and care team and to direct their team in the smooth running of the clinical area with a strong focus on HIQA regulations and policies. Ideally the successful candidate will be a qualified CNM3 with a proven track record of strong management and clinical practice experience. The role will have staff reporting directly to the Director of Nursing including Staff Nurses, Physiotherapist and Senior Health Care Assistant. Duties included: General Ensure that the provision of a high standard of care to the resident and families in the Nursing Home is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan. Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the Values of the Nursing Home Play an active role in resident education and be actively involved in Health Education and Promotion Encourage recognition of the resident as an individual; ensuring residents' needs and comfort are given priority Plan, assess and deliver resident care, together with all members of the multidisciplinary care team Communicate with relevant team regarding residents' condition and relaying information and changes in Doctor instructions Communicates with relatives of residents and with visitors as requested. Attend / chair meetings as required and keep staff briefed on developments in the Nursing Home Be aware of the confidential nature of the work and in particular, the right of residents to confidentiality. To this end you will not discuss workings of the Nursing Home or its residents with people outside the Nursing Home. Management Undertake the role and responsibilities of the Person-in-Charge in line with the Health Act 2007, related regulations and the Health information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards. Oversee the organisation and management of the Nursing Home Oversee and co-ordinate the quality and safety system including all aspects of risk management and resident involvement Participate with the orientation of all new staff to the Nursing Home Undertake counselling and appraisal of trained staff as required Endeavour to keep abreast of recent trends in developments by reading widely. Be responsible for the recruitment, development and supervision of staff Facilitate the arrangements necessary and participate where appropriate, in education and training of other staff as the need arises Be responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures Liaise with external organisations in order to promote and maintain good working relationships and high standards of care and service for residents Lead, by example, a professional, punctual and dedicated team. Create and promote open communications, healthy working relationships, and stimulate initiative among the team Motivate team members, by agreeing goals and objectives, through performance review To undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Proprietor Essential Skills required: A registered General Nurse on the Register of Nurses held by An Board Altranais or be entitled to be so registered Evidence of continuous professional development Minimum three years post graduate experience with a minimum of two years experience in Care of the Older Person at CNM level Have an in-depth knowledge of the ageing process and New HIQA standards. Demonstrate sound knowledge and clinical nursing practice together with future trends in Care of Older Persons Shows evidence of current legislative policies pertinent to Care of the Older Persons Desirable Skills required: Gerontology Experience Third Level Management Qualifications IT Skills Experience in Psycho geriatric Nursing Care/ Psychiatry/Adult Disabled Knowledge of organisation of health services and trends nationally and internationally Ability to source both theoretical and technical information If you are interested in applying for this role, an excellent salary will be offered to the successful candidate.
